About Us

The name of "Algutshof Kennels" will continue to be used in memory of Linda's late husband, Michael Allgood.  Michael had a vast knowledge of training, showing and breeding dogs and will be remembered by his family and friends with love and respect for a man who brought a lot to the canine community.

In Loving Memory of Michael Allgood

Linda Allgood and Kara Paul have picked up where Michael left off.  Although primarily Rottweilers reside at our home, we also have a Doberman Pincsher, two Australian Shepherds, and our beloved Ragdoll cats - Piper and MoMo.

Combined, Linda and I have over 40 years experience in dog training for obedience, conformation, agility and schutzhund as well as herding and therapy dog work.

Breeding Rottweilers is a huge responsibility, therefore, when we choose to breed a litter we select the best possible candidates with a strong gene pool for the Rottweiler breed.  Health, temperament and intelligence are our utmost concern along with meeting the standard of the Rottweiler.

BOB, Multi BOS, Multi-V rated, AKC, UKC, UCI Ch. Unique's Hilma Vom Algutshof, RN, CGC, HIC, TDI, TT, is Algutshof's new foundation bitch.  She is currently being trained for obedience/schutzhund titles as well as herding and agility.  She will be bred selectively to only males of merit with all health clearances, sound temperament, intelligence and correct conformation.

Linda's background: coming soon

Kara's background:

I was born 1958 in Washington, DC, raised in Arlington, VA and landed in Evansville, IN in 1991.  My Mom Violet gave me my love and passion for animals and my Dad Richard provided me with the foundation for caring and providing good health care along with taking responsibility for my charges!

I've had a love affair with animals ever since I can remember and for that I can only go back to when I was 5 years old with Beagles.  I bought my first purebred dog in 1984, a Doberman named Papillion.  But it didn't stop there.  My passion is for the Rottweiler breed.  It was when I was in my teens when I first saw one that wasn't in a book.  When the "Omen" came out, I just knew that owning a Rottweiler would be in my future.

In 1991 I made my dream come true and purchased my first Rottweiler, Paka.  Unfortunately she was not of good quality and the end result was she had no immune system to fight off infection, she had severe demodectic mange.  She was only 14 months old when I made the hardest decision to put her to rest.  It was a huge loss for me because I couldn't make it right for her.  It was a very hard lesson and one I won't ever let happen again.

Obedience was my starting point and the one-on-one relationship that is developed and honed for competition is like no other.  It is just the two of you competing against yourselves.  All those hours, months of preparation and sacrafice comes down to minutes in a ring and doing your best.  It takes you to a place like no other.  They are your partner, your friend, and companion and want nothing more then your love.  Training a dog, well I want to believe that everyone knows how that feels, but I think other dog trainers really understand when I say it touches the heart and creeps into your soul.  Simply put, "its amazing."

I love, love, love training dogs for comformation.  Especially when it comes to puppies!  But I've trained older dogs as well with great success.  Again, I like to take what comes natural to them and build off of that.

There have been many dogs in my life.  Ones that I've owned, ones that I have rescued or helped get to their forever homes, and they will never be forgotten.  I cherish my memories and look to the future to create new ones.

Linda and I have known each other for over 18 years now.  Our lives crossed paths in times of happiness and sadness but we were always there for each other.  We both bring a little "somethin, somethin" to our methods of training for all the dog sports we know of and those sports we are about to learn.  The sky is the limit!

We welcome you to continue your visit on our website and enjoy!
